Roland VC-1-SC – Up/Down/Cross Scan Converter

The Roland VC-1-SC is designed to handle up/down/cross conversions while keeping the picture quality intact — no colour shifts, no signal errors, and no artefacts. It keeps the original video characteristics, with rich blacks and clean super-whites. You get your image as it was shot, without the usual interlacing issues or pixel shifts you sometimes see with other converters.

Onboard, you’ve got a re-clocker that stabilises SDI signals, especially useful when running cables over long distances — perfect for live productions or large venues. The VC-1-SC supports both Level A and B 3G-SDI, making it easy to work with any SDI gear you have around.

It’s also HDCP compliant, which means you can handle protected HDMI signals—just remember that you can’t send HDCP content out via SDI or record it.

Audio is fully covered. With digital AES/EBU and analogue inputs and outputs, you can embed or de-embed audio as needed. Whether you’re pulling audio from an SDI feed or inserting sound from a console, the VC-1-SC keeps everything clean and synced.

Full video integrity

The VC-1-SC is built to respect the original video signal. Colours, brightness — even super blacks and super whites — all pass through without compromise. No interlacing artefacts, no jitter, no loss of detail. It just works as expected every time.

3G-SDI ready

Need to run 1080p? No problem. The VC-1-SC handles 3G-SDI (both Level A and B), so you can connect a wide range of cameras and gear. It auto-detects 1080i, 720p, and SD signals on the fly.

Audio and video workflows sorted.

Audio embedding and de-embedding are built-in and fully configurable. You can route audio however you need — for example, embedding external audio when converting SDI to HDMI. AES/EBU digital audio is supported, so you stay in the digital domain when needed, but analog I/O is there, too, ready for your mixers or monitors.

Handles HDCP HDMI signals

The VC-1-SC takes HDCP-protected HDMI input, applies frame sync or delay, and passes it through with HDCP intact. So it fits nicely into any HDCP-based system. Just note: HDCP-protected HDMI input won’t convert to SDI or record — that’s the rule.

Built-in re-clocker for SDI stability

SDI runs long? No stress. The VC-1-SC’s re-clocker cleans up the signal so your image stays solid, even over extended cable lengths — great for camera relays or remote setups.

Solid, road-ready build

The VC-1-SC is built tough — 2mm aluminium plates, reinforced connectors bolted to the chassis, and designed to take the hits of daily production work. All connectors have status LEDs, so you see signal activity at a glance. It’s made for long hours and constant use — no overheating, no surprises.

Cut-outs on the chassis let you rig it easily — hook & loop straps, cable ties — whatever works on location.

Easy to set up, flexible to control

On-site? Just flip the DIP switches on the side to change conversion settings. If you need deeper control, plug it into your laptop — PC or Mac — via USB. The software gives you access to advanced settings and lets you save presets. Need to run a few of these in parallel? No problem — connect multiple units through a USB hub and manage them all from one place.
